The CEW+ Scholarship Program, which today supports underserved students of all genders, was established in 1970 to honor the academic performance and potential of women whose education has been interrupted and to commemorate the one-hundredth anniversary of the admission of women to the University of Michigan.

Thanks to the generosity of individuals, organizations, clubs, and foundations, CEW+ has awarded over 1,900 scholarships since 1970. CEW+ Scholarships are invaluable and unique in that they are tailored to complement a student's existing aid package. With support from our generous donors, CEW+ expanded the program in 2008 to include additional scholarships for students of all genders who are U-M students on the Ann Arbor, Dearborn, or Flint campuses.

Approximately 70 scholarships are awarded annually, ranging from $2,000 to $12,000, with some larger awards given. The average award amount for the 2024-25 academic year was over $8,000. Full eligibility, selection criteria, and FAQs are listed on the CEW+ Website.  

The current application cycle will fund students during the 2025-2026 academic year. A CEW+ Scholarship may be used in any semester of the upcoming school year in which the scholar is enrolled (Fall 2025, Winter 2026, Spring 2026, or Summer 2026). CEW+ Scholarships can be used for tuition, fees, or living expenses (including child care). Please note: If you are a student who is fully funded through grants and/or scholarships, CEW+ may not be able to award you a scholarship.
